Well, what a good weekend. Unusually for a training week-end the weather was kind, with lightish winds for the first on the water session on Saturday, gaining in strength (and accompanying waves) as the week-end progressed.
We started with ensuring boats were rigged correctly before going on the water and finding out what people wanted to gain from the week-end which was fairly varied as we had quite a range of experience. John and Lucy managed to get the spinnaker up for the first time which was a real achievement and Tris and Mark amused us with their, as usual, energetic sailing style. Graham and Paul from Poole were very controlled with their experience of sailing other boats showing and Mike and Nathan were spot-on keeping the boat level most of the time. The final session of the day saw a fair bit of capsizing with some interesting bailing out of the boat and righting techniques (Richard!). Stuart and Zoe brought their custard yellow Spice along so a few people had the chance to have a play on the Buzz's sister boat with its double-trapeze.

On Sat we managed three on the water sessions with plenty of video analysis and general training chat, along with a bit of rig tweaking in between wet sessions. Sunday saw 3 buzzes join in the club racing in quite a breeze so lots of capsizing and changing of places, while Mark went out with Richard to hone techniques, followed by a final de-brief and answering any final outstanding questions before saying good-bye.
Many thanks to all those who helped, in particular Mike for organising the event; Nathan, Jane and Amy for doing various bits and bobs behind the scene and in particular ensuring we were all well fed and watered throughout the week-end (as well as numerous teas/coffees, cakes, ploughman’s lunches we had a successful Chinese take-away on Sat evening (Mark and Jane take note!); the safety boat drivers for ensuring everyone was safe and enabling video/photos to be shot; all at Seafarers SC for being so accommodating; Stuart and Zoe for providing help and advice to all and finally to those who attended - we are expecting to see you at some of the events.

Happy Sailing
